Oil Spill Response has relocated its Boeing 727 base to London Southend Airport citing its “unique provision of side-by-side hangarage” as a driving factor.
G-OSRB (c/n 22929) returned to the UK in August, having completed a standby operation “supporting the UNDP and the FSO Safer oil transfer activities.” The aircraft was stationed in Djibouti, though was not needed to respond, and with the transfer now complete it has returned to UK shores. It is joining stablemate G-OSRA (c/n 22938) at Southend.
Data from flight tracking outlet FlightRadar24 states G-OSRB flew from Djibouti Ambouli International Airport for Chania, Crete, at 0609hrs, local time, on August 13, arriving into Chania at 1022hrs, local time.
From there, it completed its mammoth journey to Southend, arriving from the Cretan airport at 1457hrs, local time – taking total flying time to seven hours 46 minutes.
