American Airlines is launching new services from Dallas/Fort Worth to Brisbane Australia, in October using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The addition will be the first-ever nonstop service between the two cities and the longest nonstop flight in the airline’s network.

Additionally, from DFW, American will add a new service to Rio de Janeiro and resume service to Kona, Hawaii, for the winter. In June, American will also inaugurate flights to Veracruz, Mexico, growing to more than 55 peak-day departures from DFW to airports across the Spanish-speaking nation.

Elsewhere, American Airlines has welcomed tentative approval from the United States Department of Transportation to begin nonstop service between New York/JFK and Tokyo/Haneda airport. American will be the only US carrier operating between JFK and Tokyo, complementing the existing service operated by its joint business partner Japan Airlines.

“American looks forward to beginning nonstop service to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from JFK,” said American’s CEO Robert Isom. “This new service will add nearly 200,000 additional round-trip seats annually between the US and Japan.” The new JFK–HND service will be American’s fourth daily nonstop flight to HND, joining existing daily service from Dallas/Fort Worth and two daily flights from Los Angeles.
