The latest product from Miltech Simulations is the CH47D for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The CH47D is a tandem-rotor heavy-lift helicopter designed for diverse missions, including troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation and construction. Its powerful twin engines and counter-rotating rotors provide exceptional lifting capacity for internal or underslung loads, while its robust design and advanced systems allow for operation in demanding environments.

The package for Microsoft Flight Simulator sports a high-quality exterior model with 4K textures, realistic damage/dirt and 13 liveries, including a paint kit. Animations consist of working doors and a cargo ramp, accurately rotating tandem rotors, blade droop, and effects such as downwash with water and dirt, engine heat blur and volumetric lighting.

The interior features a detailed cockpit with wear and tear and a fully modelled cargo bay. It also sports realistic navigation systems and instrumentation based on documentation from a real CH7D, with a functional TACAN, ADF and VOR. An optional GPS is available, with more options coming soon, including PMS GTN750 and TDS GTNXi compatibility. An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) can be used to configure various options such as fuel quantity, the aircraft’s systems and external loads.

Other highlights include authentic flight and engine models, validated through testing and feedback from CH47 pilots and technicians. The flight model makes use of the native helicopter dynamics in Microsoft Flight Simulator, enhanced with customised parameters to accurately simulate the stability, manoeuvrability and capacities of a tandem rotor configuration.

A comprehensive sound set was recorded from a real CH47D, including engine and rotor audio effects with blade slap based on collective, pitch/roll angle and G-force, APU sounds and transmission whine.

The package features cargo loading capabilities with six external sling loads in tandem and single-sling configurations: Humvees, UAV containers, RHIBS, and helicopter fuselages. It also comes with five internal cargo loads: medevacs, troops, humvees and pallets.

A custom mission system includes a predefined set of flights with tasks to execute. These missions are designed so the pilot follows mission dispatch instructions but must fully configure, execute and perform the mission themselves. These include firefighting, cargo hoist, rescue, humanitarian missions and military exercises. Some missions may require Miltech Simulations Supercarrier Pro or Miltech Simulations UK Carrier Strike Group (sold separately).
