Concours d’Elegance win for Travel Air
Tom Leaver’s stunning 1928-built Travel Air 4000 NC5427 was awarded The Prince Michael of Kent Trophy for the best aircraft at this year’s Light Aircraft Association (LAA) Rally.

The LAA is the UK’s principal representative body for amateur-built and vintage light aircraft. Other major winners included Roger Benson’s 1939-built Piper J4A Cub Coupe G-AFZA in the Best Vintage and Best Piper categories while Matthew Boddington’s Slingsby T.56 SE5a G-AVOU received the award for Best Classic aircraft and Best Replica.

Held at Leicester Airport from August 30 to September 1, this year’s Rally – the first at Leicester in more than 40 years – welcomed some 700 aircraft, more than 100 different types and upwards of 1,500 movements.
