Coventry’s Whirlwind gets TLC
Under cover after many years on external display at the Midland Air Museum at Baginton, Coventry, the restoration of 66-year-old Westland Whirlwind Series 3 G-APWN has begun. The machine made its maiden flight on 3 October 1959, being delivered to Bristow Helicopters in 1963. The well-travelled Westland Whirlwind flew with the company in Nigeria as 5N-AGI and Bermuda as VR-BER prior to retirement in 1981 at Redhill.
