The veteran jet can now be seen on he deck of aircraft carrier USS Midway in California

Following a restoration lasting several decades former US Navy Chance Vought F7U-3 Cutlass BuNo 129565 was hoisted on board the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Midway in California for display on December 14, 2022.

Accepted by the US Navy on October 29, 1953, BuNo 129565 was the 49th of 180 F7U-3s built. While Midway never fielded operational examples of the type, the ship was used to complete F7U carrier suitability trials during July 1951. As such the Cutlass will soon be finished in markings of the airframe used - BuNo 128454.
