The service is set to be available on routes between the US and UK with plans to expand to other international destinations later this year

Delta Air Lines plans to launch its ‘Delta FlyReady’ digital health credential platform for those travelling between the US and UK this summer.

The solution is set to be used to manage testing requirements, with hopes of integrating vaccination credentials later this year.

Trials of the software were conducted in April on flights between Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson and London Heathrow. The platform allows travellers to book the appropriate Covid-19 test for their destination requirements.

Those travelling with either Delta or Virgin Atlantic will be able to use the app starting this summer.

“Virgin Atlantic FlyReady and Delta FlyReady will help to strengthen customers’ confidence as they return to the skies, by making their transatlantic journeys as smooth and seamless as possible, while navigating new Covid-19 travel requirements in a convenient digital format,” said Corneel Koster, chief customer and operating officer, Virgin Atlantic.

“Our commitment is to ensure every single customer flies safe and well and we’re delighted to be working closely with our partners Delta Air Lines and TrustAssure to launch this innovative integrated solution, which will be further developed to include vaccination status.”

Virgin Atlantic plan to begin using the platform in June on flights between Heathrow and selected US cities.

Delta plans to introduce the FlyReady application to other international routes throughout the summer.

Currently, the US remains on the UK’s ‘amber list’ as part of the British government’s traffic light system. Deliberations are presently ongoing to try and enable it to move to green, which would fully reopen the transatlantic corridor.
