DHL boosts Boeing 777F commitments

DHL Express has placed an order for six additional Boeing 777 Freighters increasing its commitment to the widebody type to 28.

It is anticipated that some if not all of these new jets will join the logistics company’s UK arm, which has recently accepted its maiden 777F, G-DHLY (c/n 67138). The East Midlands-based carrier has recently undergone an overhaul of its fleet and route network, with focus shifting to long-haul connections following the transfer of its 23 757-200Fs to its Austrian counterpart.

DHL has taken delivery of 15 777Fs since its maiden example was handed over in September 2019. It leases a further five examples from Kalitta Air.

Geoff Kehr, DHL Express’ senior vice president global air fleet management, said: "With the order of six new, large widebody freighter aircraft, we continue to invest in our future and further enhance the capability and reach of our global air network. The Boeing 777 Freighter will connect DHL's global hubs in Cincinnati, Leipzig and Hong Kong as well as serving other key markets.”

The 777 Freighter is Boeing's best-selling freighter of all time with more than 300 examples having been ordered since the programme’s launch in 2005.
