Dornier Do 24 flying boat discovered in the Mediterranean

A team of Italian divers has discovered the remains of a Dornier Do 24 Flying Boat in the Mediterranean sea.

The wreck was found on the seabed off the coast of Sicily at a depth of 122m.

From March 1941 to May 1943, the 6th Seenotstaffeln Rescue Squadron was stationed at Syracuse, Sicily, where it was equipped with both German Dornier Do 24 and Heinkel He 59 flying boats, so it is currently believed they aircraft came from there.
