Low-cost airline easyJet has announced plans for its first airport lounge at London/Gatwick.
In partnership with No1 Lounges and the North Terminal the budget operator is due to open the space tomorrow (October 21).
Dubbed ‘The Gateway’, the firm says it will offer passengers a comfortable space to eat, drink and work before their flight as well as complimentary hot and cold menus.
The launch comes as the airline reports that business travel is making a return.

Rachael Smith, commercial proposition and innovation director for the Luton-based firm, commented: “The launch is timely as we are seeing the recovery begin in the UK, not only for leisure travel where winter sun destinations are proving popular once again, but for business travellers too, who are returning in their biggest numbers since before the pandemic.
“Whatever the reason for travel, we are confident that the lounge will provide the perfect destination for customers wanting to get their trip off to a perfect start.”

Jonathan Pollard, chief commercial officer, Gatwick Airport, added: “We are delighted to welcome easyJet’s and No1 Lounges, The Gateway, to our North Terminal. As Gatwick’s biggest airline, it’s fantastic that easyJet has a dedicated space for all passengers to relax before their flight, whether travelling for business, leisure or with their family.”
All passengers travelling through the hub can book to use the lounge regardless of airline or travel ticket class.

Home to 71 easyJet aircraft, Gatwick is the Luton firm’s largest base. More than 19 million passengers travelled with the carrier to and from the airport, making it the hub’s largest airline.
