Another city ‘Down Under’ is set for the resumption of Airbus A380 services.

Emirates has confirmed it will reintroduce the Airbus A380 on its daily rotation to Perth from December 1.

Flight EK 420 will depart Dubai/International at 0245hrs and arrive at the Western Australia gateway at 1720hrs the same day; the return leg – EK 421 – leaves Perth at 2220hrs and reaches the UAE at 0525hrs the following morning.

The switch in equipment from the existing Boeing 777-300ER to the A380 will add a further 150 seats in each direction each day. It’s the latest step in a phased ramp-up of operations to Australia’s fourth largest city as COVID-19-related travel restrictions are gradually lifted and traffic levels continue to rise – Emirates increased its flights from Dubai to five times daily in February, and then daily in May.

This month the airline celebrates 20 years of services to Perth – since August 2002, it has carried almost six million passengers on the route from more than 24,000 flights. Emirates has also boosted capacity elsewhere in Australia, and now employs its 119-strong super jumbo fleet on twice-daily links to Sydney and Melbourne, and daily to Brisbane.
