Established in 1921 Essendon Airport is Australia's second oldest international airport after Sydney. Now known as Essendon Fields Airport, it plays an important role in the aviation sector for Victoria and hosts a large mix of non-aviation related businesses. It is also the home to the Australian headquarters for Orbx.

It was Melbourne's primary international airport between 1950 and 1970 when the present-day Melbourne International Airport (YMML) opened its doors in the neighbouring suburb of Tullamarine.
Essendon now operates as a general aviation facility as well as hosting regular passenger services to regional destinations. Since 2001, extensive property development has occurred to revitalise the airport and create a vibrant commercial hub.

Developed with the assistance of Essendon Fields Airport, the package from Orbx is an accurate depiction of YMEN Essendon Airport, sporting high-quality PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures, custom ground polygons and crisp ortho imagery supplied by Aerometrex.
Other highlights include interior ground floor modelling of the terminal, the new Bombardier hangar and custom static aircraft: Skycrane, AMSA Challenger aircraft and VICPOL/HEMS AW-139s.
