The widebody configured in four classes, will be set to work on the Tokyo/Haneda-New York/JFK route starting from January 24, 2024.
The Tokyo-based carrier has ordered 31 A350s, comprising 18 -900s and 13 -1000s, and has operated the A350-900 on high-density Japanese domestic routes since 2019. JAL is scheduled to receive its second -1000 aircraft by the end of March, which will allow daily A350-1000 operations on the same route. Initially, the type will operate on alternate days.

After the delivery of the third A350-1000, JAL will expand the aircraft’s reach to include Dallas/Fort Worth. The new aircraft will begin replacing Boeing 777-300ERs, which have been an essential part of the JAL long-haul fleet since entering service with the carrier in 2004.
