The all-economy 136-seat aircraft, SP-LEA (c/n 19020124), was ferried from the Embraer facility in Brazil on July 30, via Recife and Gran Canaria, to Warsaw, arriving on July 31. It entered service on August 11, flying to Oslo as flight LO481.
The Warsaw-headquartered airline said it is adding the E2 to its fleet to enhance operational flexibility and accommodate network expansion, with the two remaining aircraft expected by October. Michał Fijoł, president of the management board of LOT Polish Airlines, said: “With these aircraft, we will increase the frequency of flights to selected European cities, offering passengers a high level of comfort in the latest generation fleet.”
LOT was the launch customer for the manufacturer’s first E-Jet in March 2004 and currently has a fleet of 44, making it one of the type’s largest operators in Europe. With cockpit commonality, the E2 allows a seamless transition over just a few days for E1 flight crews. Arjan Meijer, president and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation, added: “We welcome our long-term partner LOT as the 17th E2 operator, 20 years after they inducted their first E170, as the global launch customer for the E-Jets. Along with our leasing colleagues at Azorra, we are proud to have been able to deliver these jets in double quick time to meet our customer’s needs.”
