French and RAF fighter jets scrambled to intercept Ryanair flight
A Ryanair Boeing 737 was intercepted by two French Air and Space Force fighter jets this week and the Royal Air Force (RAF) scrambled a pair of Typhoons to respond, Key.Aero can exclusively reveal. The incident, which occurred on August 30, involved Flight FR28 which connects Palma de Mallorca with London/Stansted. A Ryanair spokesperson said the 737-800, EI-EBM (c/n 35002), “briefly lost comms with ATC” while flying through French airspace, prompting the military response.
