The airline is restoring operations after a loosening of entry restrictions by the UK government

Bahrain flag carrier, Gulf Air has restored its double daily connection to London/Heathrow using its Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The flights will operate on its previous schedule of morning and night flights to offer more flexibility and convenience to passengers, according to the carrier.

The connections come as the UK government added Bahrain to its amber travel list from August 8, allowing passengers to avoid expensive hotel quarantine on arrival to the UK.

Waleed Al Alawi, Gulf Air’s acting CEO, said: “London is one of our main destinations in Western Europe and we’ve been connecting both Kingdoms since 1970. It has also been a destination that we maintained scheduled operations to throughout 2020. Thanks to the great efforts by the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19, the Kingdom of Bahrain is now moved from the red list to the amber list in the UK colour code entry system.”

The airline has also recently announced that it is offering complimentary COVID-19 travel insurance to all ticket holders, including health and quarantine expenses in the unexpected circumstances of being diagnosed with or contracting COVID-19 during passengers’ journeys.
