Hawker Tempest edges closer to flight!

The air around Sywell was broken by the growl of a Bristol Centaurus on April 19

Hawker Tempest Mk.II MW763 (G-TEMT) edged closer towards it long anticipated first post restoration flight on April 19 with its first engine run at Northamptonshire’s Sywell Aerodrome where it has been undergoing restoration with Air Leasing. Below is a video shared by Ultimate Warbird Flights – the flight experience arm of Air Leasing.

Rolled out for the first time on May 24, 2021, the former RAF and Indian Air Force machine is now approaching the end of an exhaustive ground-up restoration that traces its roots back to the early 1980s. Passing through several hands since then, it was purchased by its current owner, Graham Peacock of Anglia Aircraft Restorations, in 2016.
