Ilyushin Il-112V prototype destroyed in fatal crash

The first prototype of the new Ilyushin Il-112V light military transport aircraft, serial number ‘01 Yellow’/RF-41400 (construction number 01-01), was destroyed in a fatal accident on August 17, killing all three crew members. The aircraft had initially departed from Zhukovsky Air Base, 22 miles southeast of central Moscow, at 1035hrs local time before landing at Kubinka Air Base, approximately 40 miles west of Moscow, at 1109hrs. It then took off again from there at 1114hrs for a routine test flight.
