Iranian UAV ‘interferes’ with F/A-18E in Gulf
AN F/A-18E from the US Navy’s Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147 ‘Argonauts’ assigned to USS Nimitz (CVN 68) had “unsafe and unprofessional interaction with an Iranian QOM-1 unmanned aerial vehicle” while operating in international airspace in the central Persian Gulf. According to US Central Command, the August 8 incident took place in the close vicinity of an F/A-18E that was in a holding pattern and preparing to land on the aircraft carrier. The QOM-1 executed “unsafe and unprofessional altitude changes”
