Istanbul Airport introduces simultaneous triple runway operations

iGA Istanbul Airport in Turkey can now undertake simultaneous take-off and landing operations on three runways at the same time. It is the first airport in Europe to operate flights from three runways at the same time. The airport introduced the triple runway operations on April 17, 2025, when Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu gave the first command to the pilots of three scheduled flights to take-off simultaneously. The flights were THY3XH to Amsterdam/Schiphol in the Netherlands
