SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 XZ383 has arrived at the Yorkshire Air Museum
The jet was delivered to the attraction located at the former RAF Elvington near York, on August 6. It had previously been at Cosford in Shropshire where it was used as a ground instructional airframe by No.2 School of Technical Training (as ‘8901M’).
First flown on March 11, 1977, XZ383 was delivered to 14 Squadron at Brüggen in Germany where it was assigned the code ‘AF’. Going on to see out its service with 41 Squadron based at Norfolk’s RAF Coltishall, the jet was withdrawn from use and transferred to Cosford in October 1986, where it remained until being put up for disposal earlier this year.
