JetBlue and Spirit cancel $3.8bn merger
JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines announced on March 4 that they had reached an agreement to terminate a July 2022 merger agreement after the proposed deal was blocked by a US judge in January on anti-competition grounds. Although both companies said they continue to believe in the benefits of the combination, JetBlue and Spirit mutually agreed that terminating is the best path forward for both companies as the merger was unlikely to be completed before the July 24, 2024 deadline.
