Junkers replicas cleared for passenger flying

Club members can now book sightseeing flights in a pair of Junkers F 13 replicas in Germany

To fly on one of the distinctive aircraft which are modern recreations of the 1920s all-metal airliner, passengers need to be members of the Junkers Luftverkehr association.

The aircraft have recently been joined by a couple of newly produced Junkers A 50 Juniors – one of the chic retro two-seaters is now based at Leverkusen and may be operated by members in the future. The reproductions were initiated by German entrepreneur and patron Dieter Morszeck. The F 13 prototype first flew in 2016 at Duebendorf, Switzerland, and now flies in the US as N13JU. Its successors, HB-RIA and HB-RIO, now fly regularly in Germany and from St Gallen in Switzerland. With thanks to Stefan Schmoll
