Lancaster stars at poppy appeal launch

The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre’s Avro Lancaster was the centrepiece of the annual launch

Avro Lancaster B.VII NX611 Just Jane was awash with poppies on October 29 during the launch of this year’s Lincolnshire Poppy Appeal. The aircraft is resident at East Kirkby’s Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and is the subject of a long-term return to flight project.

The Lancaster is maintained in ground-running condition and frequently performs taxi demonstrations – often with passengers – at its home base. See the next edition of FlyPast for an in-depth report on the restoration to flight process.

Special thanks to Martin Keen for the poppy drop image.
