Local Legends 6, Junkers F 13 takes flight

The Microsoft Flight Simulator team has released the Junkers F 13 to coincide with the first-ever City Update featuring five new photogrammetry German cities.

The German-built Junkers F 13 is the world's first all-metal civilian transport aircraft built using Duralumin and sporting a new cantilever main wing requiring no external bracing, which was unique at the time for an aircraft of its size.

Making its maiden flight in 1919, it was crewed by two pilots and could carry four passengers. More than 300 examples were manufactured and over the course of its 13-year production run, Junkers used a variety of engines to power the F 13.

The model for Microsoft Flight Simulator is fitted with a supercharged 9-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-985-AN-14B Wasp Junior 450hp radial piston engine while the cockpit is equipped with modern avionics such as GPS navigation.

It is available in four variants: vintage with a standard undercarriage, floats, skis, and a replica model. The F 13 is available on the in-sim marketplace for $14.99.
