The airline has restored the service after Stobart Air’s collapse with plans to begin operating the connection in September

The UK’s largest regional airline, Loganair has inaugurated its new service between Aberdeen and Dublin.

Flights connecting the two cities are set to begin on September 5.

The carrier is taking over this route from Stobart Air after its collapse two weeks ago.

Matt Hazelwood, group commercial director for AGS Airports, said: “These routes strengthen our connectivity in the north-east of Scotland following the collapse of Stobart Air two weeks ago. Bringing back business safely is a key priority at our airport and this route will be warmly welcomed by our passengers and stakeholders.”

Kay Ryan, Loganair’s chief commercial officer, is pleased that the airline has stepped in to “quickly restore the vital link between the two cities”.

She added: “It fits well with our increasingly dominant presence as the UK’s premier regional airline and develops our growing relationship with IAG through our codeshare with BA. We now look forward to enhancing our connectivity further as we work closely with Aer Lingus.”

Initially, the airline plans to run the service four times per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. This is expected to increase it to daily flights from March 28, 2022.

Loganair already serves ten locations from the Scottish hub, including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
