Louisville Muhammed Ali International Airport has unveiled its new operations centre featuring a 14-screen video wall, providing staff with oversight of airfield and facility activity to ensure the safety of all cargo and airline partners as well as the travelling public.

Through the new centre, staff will closely monitor flight and parking information, weather, terminal activity, property work orders, access control systems and airport radio communications including public safety, operations and maintenance as well as aircraft radio traffic.
The space includes, what the airport calls, a ‘tactical island’ enabling a minimum of ten staff members to gather and view various airport maps and diagrams through a clear surface. The dedicated area can be used to plan projects, discuss construction needs and work through any scenarios that may occur.
Dan Mann, executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, commented: “The technology that we have in the new operations centre plus the ability to access information there or remotely is a huge improvement and will positively impact our overall operational efficiencies. The capabilities of this space and working with our business partners is an asset in improving our internal processes as well. It also serves as a talent attraction tool to bring aviation professionals who are best in class to Louisville.”
The new facility is part of the airport’s wider improvement programme that will see a $400m investment in the terminal and airfield over the next few years.
