Higher Faster, Further places focus on RAF between the wars

A static replica of Alex Henshaw’s record-breaking Percival Mew Gull, G-AEXF — which was commissioned by Henshaw himself for inclusion in the RAF Museum’s Milestones of Flight gallery when it opened in 2003 — has returned to Hendon after a long period in storage at Stafford. It is now suspended above the new inter-war exhibition at the London site, entitled Higher, Faster, Further, which was due to open to the public on 4 December.

Telling the story of the RAF from 1918-39, but featuring the Mew Gull as an example of the advances made by civil aviation during the period, Higher, Faster Further also includes the museum’s Sopwith Snipe reproduction, Bristol Bulldog and Hawker Hart II, as well as its Supermarine Southampton and Westland Wallace fuselages.
