MiGs receive attention in UK and US

Refurbishment work is under way or planned on two former Eastern Bloc jets

Staff at Newark Air Museum in Nottinghamshire have recently completed some additional detailing work on Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27K Flogger (61912507006 – 71) including the fitting of representative munitions. Elsewhere on site fabric and paint has been applied to Clutton FRED G-BJAD – markings are likely to have been added by the time these words are read.

Meanwhile, in the US, a former Bulgarian Air Force Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 Fresco is awaiting new paintwork at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park where it has been on display since March 2011. The jet’s now faded scheme currently represents a MiG belonging to the Vietnam People’s Air Force.
