NATO aircraft descend on Lossiemouth for major exercise

RAF Lossiemouth is playing a major role in NATO’s Exercise Formidable Shield, which started on May 8 and runs until May 26. The biennial exercise is aimed at improving “Allied interoperability in a joint live-fire, Integrated Air and Missile Defence environment, using NATO command and control reporting structures.” There will be live-fire events against subsonic, supersonic, and ballistic targets, involving multiple ships, ground forces and aircraft.
