EGYPT’S LARGEST private airline is preparing for take-off from Sweden later this year. Nile Air has announced plans to connect Cairo and Stockholm/Arlanda with a direct service from mid-June.

The African carrier will fly twice weekly – on Wednesday and Saturday – between the two capitals representing its first scheduled European route.

As well as trade relations, Egypt is a popular destination for Swedish tourists, with more than 100,000 Swedes visiting the country each year in the pre-pandemic period.

Those with sights beyond Cairo can connect to other Nile Air destinations in Egypt, including Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan, as well as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Turkey and Sudan

Nile Air launched operations in March 2011, and its fleet consists of Airbus A320 and ِA321 examples in a two-class configuration.
