During a difficult period throughout the pandemic the airline hopes to strengthen operations with the new changes

Norwegian has recently announced that its reconstruction processes – which began last November – are now complete, allowing the airline to progress with its down-sized aircraft fleet and simplified structure.

The works took place over a six month period in both Ireland and Norway. The airline was previously owned by an Irish company before being taken over earlier this year.

Jacob Schram, CEO of Norwegian, believes that the completion “marks a new beginning for Norwegian”.

He said: “I would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has had faith in us throughout this period. We have been completely dependent on the support of existing and former employees, business partners and shareholders, creditors and not least customers. Norwegian is a significant player both in the European tourism industry and aviation sector.”

Due to the pandemic, the carrier is expecting more challenges and a continuous amount of adaptations.

With summer edging closer, the airline has stated that more routes will be made available within the region and internationally.

Norwegian Air International, based in the Republic of Ireland, ceased operations in April of this year after being fully taken over by its parent company. All working aircraft were either transferred over to the Swedish subsidiary or retired.
