The Spirit of Flight Foundation museum in Nampa Idaho, has announced that a rare Boeing P-26 Peashooter has been donated to its collection
“Only two original P-26 fighters exist of the 151 that were built by Boeing,” said foundation president Gordon Page. “Three other reproduction/replicas exist, and one of the two P-26s that Tim and Gayla O’Connor were building is on its way to Spirit of Flight.”
The O’Connors began the project over 20 years ago, building a pair of Peashooters using original Boeing blueprints. Sadly, Tim died in 2020 after much progress had been made – the projects have been in storage since then. Both will now be completed by Legend Flyers in Everett, Washington, with one destined for Nampa on completion. “Hopefully we will see one in the air in the next few years,” said Legend Flyers’ Bob Hammer. “We are certainly going to do our best to finish what Tim and Gayla started.”
