Airports Council International (ACI) has accredited Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport in Arizona for providing a safe experience for travellers.
The organisation’s certification programme monitors the hub’s cleaning and safety practices, which are then measured against the international industry standard.
“It gives me great satisfaction to be able to share with our customers, our business partners, and our employees that PHX is achieving among the highest standards in the industry when it comes to providing for a safe, secure, and healthy airport environment,” said Chad Makovsky, director of aviation services for the City of Phoenix. “This simply would not have been possible without our amazing team at the City of Phoenix, particularly our Sky Harbor facilities and services staff.”
Sky Harbor was evaluated on its disinfection, products used, staff training, ventilation, availability of hand sanitiser and the use of contactless technology.
Airports awarded with the certification are required to have it renewed every year.
