Piasecki taking shape at Helicopter Museum

Weston-super-Mare’s Helicopter Museum is continuing to make progress on its restoration of Piasecki H-21C FR41

Much of the work has focused on the forward section including cockpit area and hydraulics. Due to the confined working area, the restored cockpit assembly and forward rotor head will be installed after the manufacture of all glazing strips. The museum is still searching for various items, including two engine bays, fuselage doors and some internal flooring.

It’s currently welcoming donations to help it acquire these parts. The next major tasks are repairs to airframe skin, and work on the glazing – a manufacturer has been approached to mould the bulbous lower pieces.
