Aircraft developer Rotate has released a Beta version of the MD-80 Pro for X-Plane 12.

This version is a compatibility upgrade of the Rotate MD-80 for X-Plane 12, featuring upgraded interior and exterior textures with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials, new 3D lights and rain/icing windshield effects.

Moreover, the new version features updated high-resolution cockpit displays, improved aerodynamics and engine performance, along with avionics updates, including improved FMC and autopilot functionality. Support for virtual reality has also been added.

The Rotate MD-80 is an accurate simulation of the MD-88 variant, sporting authentic flight dynamics and fine-tuned engine performance developed with the advice of MD-80 pilots. It features a detailed passenger cabin, a highly functional 3D cockpit and accurate systems simulation.

The Rotate MD-88 is available on x-plane.org for $59.95 (approx £46.60). Current owners of the Rotate MD-80 for X-Plane 11 can upgrade for a reduced price.
