Russian Polikarpov restoration takes to the air
A Polikarpov Po-2 returned to Russian skies late last year at Drakino airfield, south of Moscow. It’s one of approximately six thought to be airworthy in the country (from some 20-30,000 built), and owner Vladimir Ponomarenko, a Russian TV producer, hopes to fly it in films as well as at airshows.
