Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas is installing more than 300 bollards along its Terminal 1 departures kerb.

The $4.9m project began early in the morning of Monday January 10, and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. The travelling public will need to allow additional time if departing from Terminal 1, the airport has said. For the duration of the project, those departing from Terminal 1 may experience more congested airport roadways. Through traffic in the Terminal 1 departures area will be redirected to adjacent lanes in order to improve traffic flow and reduce backups.

The project will be completed in seven phases, with the two traffic lanes nearest the kerb closed where work is occurring. The first phase will begin at the northernmost end of the kerb, near Allegiant Air and Spirit Airlines ticketing, then gradually move south with each phase.

These bollards will improve safety along the Terminal 1 departures kerb, which constantly has a high-density mix of vehicles and pedestrians. Additionally, this project is an opportunity to replace the concrete walkways on the kerb with a cost-efficient material that is more durable and easier to clean and maintain.
