Schiphol app gets F&B ordering capability
Ordering food and drinks via the Schiphol app has proved popular with travellers
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol passengers can now use the Schiphol app to order food and drinks and make contactless payments for their purchases.

The orders can be picked up in the food and beverage facilities beyond security. Following a successful pilot the airport is extending the app’s food and beverage feature in partnership with global restaurateur HMSHost International.

By clicking on a banner in the Schiphol app or scanning the QR code found on the waiting time screens before security control, among other locations, passengers can place an order, pay online and choose a convenient time to collect their food from a pick-up point.

“When we tested food and beverage pre-ordering on a small scale, we received a large number of positive responses, so we decided to expand this service,” said Irene Muysson, manager of retail, food and beverage and commercial services at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

“The system is now even more user-friendly, and many other catering outlets at the airport are now connected. This frees up more time for our passengers to relax, since their orders are ready for pick-up at the specified time.”

In addition to using the Schiphol app to place an order, it is now also possible to pre-order food and drinks from various catering outlets in Departure Lounges 2 and 3.
