Operator of food and beverage outlets, SSP Group has signed its first contract with West Indies hub, Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport.

The airport’s hospitality spaces are set to be expanded from three units to eight, as part of a redevelopment project. The company plans to operate all of the new facilities, five of which are situated landside and three airside.

“As a popular tourist destination with over two million passengers passing through its gates in 2019 and ambitious plans for expansion, Aéroport Martinique Aimé Césaire faces a bright future,” said Gerard d’Onofrio, managing director of SSP France, Belgium and Luxembourg. "We’re delighted to have a presence at this new location, and in particular to be bringing the first Starbucks to the island.”

A combination of casual food outlets, such as a burger and grill restaurant, alongside a beach themed bar are expected to be introduced.

SSP plan to begin operations with three existing units at the site later this month. The renovation is set to begin in October and is scheduled for completion in 2023.
