A high altitude ‘supersonic corridor’ has been officially renamed in a salute to the pioneering Bell X-1 A ceremony was hosted by the USAF’s 412th Test Wing at California’s Edwards Air Force Base (AFB) on October 14 to honour the men behind Bell’s pioneering supersonic X-1 rocket-powered aircraft.
