Swedavia sells building rights at Goteberg Landvetter

The operator hopes to expand its warehouse and logistics facilities to reinvest in the airport’s development

Swedavia has sold the two companies that owned land at Goteborg City Airport to meet growing demand for logistics properties at the hub.

Zeppelin Sverige AB, which is a distributor for Caterpillar Inc, has bought the areas and plans to set up its Swedish headquarters at the base using the 32,000sqm of space provided. The firm also plans to introduce around 100 jobs alongside a flexible services facility that is set to host all of its operations within the western region.

“We are pleased that Zeppelin has chosen to set up operations in the middle of an optimal logistics hub next to Göteborg Landvetter Airport, with its proximity to air links, the biggest cities in the region, Gothenburg and Borås, to the Port of Gothenburg, and also to the large road network here,” said Stefan Stanberg, CEO of Swedavia Real Estate.

Logistics Park 1 is a total of 150,000sqm which currently consists of properties to suit specific customer needs. During 2019 and 2020, companies such as Postnord TPL, Rajapack, Vatterleden Logisitk and Dawa Dack all resided at the site.

Whilst currently in the planning stage, Swedavia hopes the second logistics park will be in the development phase soon.

Volker Possogel, CEO of Zeppelin Nordics/Sverige AB, added: “The idea is for the building to be certified for its environmental performance. The Zeppelin Group works with great purpose to ensure that all strategic business units will be carbon-neutral before 2030, both in terms of premises and operations.”

The company is preparing a zoning plan to help meet the needs for new modern facilities.

Zeppelin bought the property on July 1 for 38.9 million Swedish Krona (£3.2m).
