‘Team Cormorant’ to modernise CH-149

LEONARDO HELICOPTERS and IMP Aerospace & Defence (IMP) announced the re-launch of ‘Team Cormorant’ on May 29, as the contractors begin a mid-life upgrade (MLU) for the Royal Canadian Air Force CH-149 Cormorant search and rescue (SAR) helicopter fleet. As well as modernising the current 14 Cormorants, the team will increase the fleet through the conversion of AW101-519 helicopters that were originally built as part of the VH-71 presidential helicopter programme. The Canadian government obtained seven helicopters when it acquired
