Typhoons begin Southern Air Policing mission
THE ROYAL Air Force’s No 3 (Fighter) Squadron has deployed a detachment to Romania for a fourmonth mission to support NATO’s Southern Air Policing mission. Four Typhoons departed RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire and arrived at Mihail Kogălniceanu air base on April 24. The detachment includes around 150 support personnel. The first rotation of the new mission lasts until September. Beginning on May 1, it will be controlled from NATO’s Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) at Torrejón in Spain. Secretary of State
