United 777’s plunge towards ocean caused by ‘miscommunication’, NTSB say
The NTSB has concluded its investigation into an incident which saw a United Airlines Boeing 777 dive towards the Pacific Ocean shortly after departing Kahului Airport, Hawaii in December last year. According to the report, about one minute after take-off the San Francisco-bound 777-200 N212UA (c/n 30218) lost altitude and descended from 2,100ft to approximately 748ft above the water before the pilots managed to recover.
