US State Department approves German F-35A purchase
In a further step towards Germany’s purchase of the F-35A Lightning II, on July 28 the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced that US State Department approval had been granted for the proposed Foreign Military Sale to the German government of F-35 aircraft, munitions and related equipment for an estimated cost of $8.4bn. Germany has requested 35 F-35As, 37 Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engines (35 installed, 2 spares); 105 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM); four AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM
