USAF makes rare showing of E-11A at Dubai
One of the most surprising exhibits in the static display at Dubai is the US Air Force’s Bombardier E-11A Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) aircraft. The need for this modified Bombardier 6000 came about during the war in Afghanistan, to relay communications to/from personnel working in mountainous terrain struggling to get their signals over the peaks described as beyond line of sight (BLOS). Three aircraft are operated with the 430th Expeditionary Combat Squadron, which is permanently deployed to Prince Sultan
