The USAF’s 305th Rescue Squadron (RQS) – a component of Air Force Reserve Command’s (AFRC’s) 943rd Rescue Group (RQG) – joined the HH-60W Jolly Green II family on February 1 when the first aircraft (21-14521) arrived at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona.

Prior to receiving the Jolly Green II, the 305th RQS was assigned six HH-60G Pave Hawks, which have been operational since 1993. While the combat search-and-rescue (CSAR) unit reports directly to the 943rd RQG at Davis-Monthan, the group is itself a geographically separated unit of AFRC’s 920th Rescue Wing (RQW) at Patrick Space Force Base (SFB) in Florida.
In addition to the 305th RQS, the group is responsible for the 304th RQS at Portland ANGB, Oregon, and the 306th RQS at Davis-Monthan AFB. These units are both made up of combat rescue officers, pararescuemen and support personnel that are critical components of the CSAR mission.
