Why Virgin Atlantic has been fined $1m by the US government
Virgin Atlantic has been fined $1.05m by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for operating flights carrying Delta Air Lines’ code in restricted airspace over Iraq. Between September 16, 2020, and September 16, 2021, the Crawley-based carrier conducted a “significant number” of flights carrying its SkyTeam partner’s code through airspace which was under a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prohibition order, an investigation by the DOT’s Office of Aviation Consumer Protection found. Virgin Atlantic currently flies to two cities in India:
