Wing panel falls off Boeing 747 at Heathrow
An upper left wing panel detached from a landing Boeing 747 at London/Heathrow and remained undetected in the grass next to the runway for two months, a report by the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has found. The incident – which involved One Air Boeing 747-433BDSF, G-UNET (c/n 25075) – occurred on January 6, 2024. On March 4, the AAIB received a report from the airport’s operator that a large metal panel had been found in the grass area
